NSW government delivers $9.9 Million for Nexus Estate

Premier Gladys Berejiklian and the Member for Albury Greg Aplin today announced $9.9 million in NSW Government funding to unlock the full potential of Albury’s Nexus manufacturing, transport and logistics hub.

Ms Berejiklian announced the grant from the Growing Local Economies Fund for a 450-hectare parcel of land earmarked for the site at Ettamogah, 10-kilometres north of Albury’s central business district.

Today’s announcement brings the NSW Government’s total investment in the Nexus precinct to almost $19 million, with previous funding delivered for local road and rail upgrades.

“We are proud to deliver on our commitments to regional NSW,” Ms Berejiklian said.

“The investment will help create thousands of new jobs and drive the southern NSW economy for decades.

“It will be a major boost for local families and put Albury on the map for international and interstate investors and deliver security for families.”

Mr Aplin said the $9.9 million will contribute to infrastructure including gas articulation to the Nexus site and the southern ramps connecting Davey Road to the Hume Highway, which will ready the precinct for marketing to large-scale, 24/7 industrial operations and provide future access for residents on the eastern side of the Highway.

“I am pleased the NSW Government can provide the vital business-enabling infrastructure required to transform this site into an industrial precinct,” he said.

“This funding will complement a recent $7.6 million Fixing Country Rail Program grant to extend the nearby Ettamogah Rail Hub’s siding capacity on-site.

“Albury is a regional growth centre with proximity to the national freight corridors connecting Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra and this funding means we will be poised to take advantage of the growth coming our way.”
Albury-Wodonga Mayor Kevin Mack was pleased with the success of the Council’s application for this project.

“Nexus has been in the pipeline for more than 10 years, so it is great to see this funding come in to help us transform the precinct, local business and industry for the better,” Cr Mack said.

“Albury is serious about investment in Nexus and this funding assistance is going to revolutionise what we have to offer.

The $500 million Growing Local Economies Fund is part of the NSW Government’s $1.6 billion Regional Growth Fund which is delivering essential infrastructure to spur job creation, improve connectivity and support community engagement and culture.

Growing Local Economies was established under the NSW Government’s Restart NSW fund to improve economic growth and productivity in NSW.
